Promise Keeper

March 4, 2016

The Bible is filled with promises for our lives. The promises cover everything from health, His presence, to joy to our future generations. It’s easy to believe those promises when you see glimpses of them being manifested in your life. But how do you continue to hold on when there seems to be no evidence of the promise? How do you keep believing although there seems to be no hint of the promise on the horizon?

1. Recognize the Promise

What promise(s) are you currently waiting for God to fulfill?  Maybe it’s healing, restoration, vision, direction, finances, friends. I encourage you to find the scriptures that relate to God’s promise and write them down. God’s word cannot return void – Keep them somewhere so that you can refer to them later.

  1.   2. Remind God of the promise He made in His Word

When my daughter is ready for us to make good on our promise, she reminds us and she reminds us.  When we are reminding God of the promise, we need to be willing to dig into the Word of God and connect our promise to a scripture. (We have to question the legitimacy of a promise that is not connected to the Word of God.) God’s word will not return void. So when we remind God about the promise, we are actually reminding ourselves of His Word.  Isaiah 55:11 says that  God’s word will not return void.

3   3. Resolve within yourself that no matter what, God’s faithfulness remains true.
We grow tired and frustrated while waiting on fulfillment because it seems as though God is not hearing our prayer. We feel that God is answering everyone else and that He has forgotten us. Resolve that in the process, God is still faithful (Deut. 7:9). The promise may come tomorrow or it may take longer, but regardless, it does not change who God is or what He’s promised. He’s still faithful. He’s still faithful. He’s still faithful!

Lord, help me to stay close to Your Word and  always remember your faithfulness. I believe and trust that Your promises for me will come to pass.
