Sometimes I feel like my house is running out of space. When we moved in over 10 years ago, the possibilities seemed endless. Each room had infinite possibilities. My ideas about where to go with design were spilling over and I really didnt know where to start. Slowly, each room started to fill up with with furniture, decorations and slowly all the space possibilities seemed to dwindle.
As our family grew and our possessions grew, we seemed to be running out of room. Similarly, when we are new in our walk with God, we seem to be filled with endless possibilities in Jesus. We cant begin to imagine the endless possibilities He has for us. And slowly through the years, our relationship with the Lord gets filled with religion, monotony, life, people and until we lose sight of the possibilities. We grow weary, stale and stuck. What else is there Lord? What else do you have for me? Our cry soon becomes “Show me something, because I can’t see it Lord.”
The Lord recently reminded me that there is so much room for me in Him. “What does that mean Lord?” I wondered. He gently reminded me that there’s so much for me when I am grounded in Him, beyond what I can conceive with my little eyes and with my limited perception.
The Lord reminded me that there’s much more room for you and I in His presence. I have room to contain all of you, all of your concerns, all of your family and still give you room to expand and grow and move, He says. As long as you stay on the outside, on the outskirts, you will never be able to see the full possibility of what is possible.
If you’ve been feeling like what else is there Lord? If you feel constricted or boxed in, the Lord says there is room for you in Me. Crawl, run, sob your way there. It doesn’t matter how you get there; just get to Him. Step in to the Lord’s arms. Step in through His Word. Step in through worship and praise. Step in through conversations with Him. Step in through the salvation of Jesus Christ and don’t let the cares of the world stifle where He can take us. Whatever it takes to get to Him, to get into His arms, get there.
God is vast enough to contain us and still give us room to rearrange, readjust, or replace. We can never run out of room in Jesus.
Lord, I pray that we walk into the infinite room you have for us. I pray that we see a hint of the possibilities you have for us and that we enter into that possibility.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? John 14:2
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
