Never Alone

September 26, 2013

Imagine having a conversation with someone and feeling like they are not really listening to you. They are hearing the words you speak, but really, they are not emotionally connected to what you are saying.   How frustrating would it be to go through days and days like this?

There are times when we are dying for someone to see through the smile on our face and  notice the pain in our hearts. We want them to know what we are going through without really having to tell them. We want to them to dig deeper and ask questions like “How are you really doing?” and “Are you sure everything is alright?”

But in the daily hustle of life, those moments are missed and we end up going about our days feeling alone, like no one quite understands.

Isaiah 43:1-5a  reassures me that someone does understand. I am reminded that no matter what I face, I am not alone. Even when no one seems to notice what I am facing, I have a Redeemer. I have hope in a  God who knows me by name and remembers me.  If no one around me notices that I’m having a bad day, God notices.  God is walking with me in the waters.  He is with me in the deep and murky situations that threaten to make me lose my footing.

When life is rushing in like a flood and drowning seems to be my only option, He is holding my hand and keeping my head above water. When I go through the fires of life – the trials, the disappointments, the upsetting moments, He is making sure that I don’t get scorched. I may feel the heat, but I will not be consumed and burned. God is moving things around to make room for me. God is moving people around so that I can be where He needs me to be. I am not alone. No, I am never alone.
