When in the course of life’s events, it becomes necessary for believers to dismiss the common beliefs of society, and to assume their rightful place as children of God, children who have something that others don’t, a decent respect requires that they declare to the enemy all the rights and privileges that have been given to them by the Most High God.
Why do we need such a declaration? America needed one to declare its separation from King George III of Great Britain. They needed to declare that they they would no longer suffer abuse under his hand. We need to declare to the enemy that we will not grow weary. We need to remind ourselves that all hope is not lost, that good things will come to us because we belong to the Almighty God.
Sometimes, I look to others to encourage me and I end up disappointed. There is a time and place for outside encouragement. Many times though, that encouragement needs to be birthed within. If you know it, others will know it. If you believe it, others will too. It is no magic potion. Simply saying the words will not miraculously change the physical circumstances, but it builds up your spirit. And when your spirit is strong, you will see your situations in a different light. Psalm 118, verse 17 is a powerful declaration. Read it until it resonates with you. Personalize it to fit your situation. Pray it until you believe it. Remind yourself of it each time something comes your way to discourage you or make you believe otherwise.
Psalm 118:17- “I will not die, but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.”
I declare that I will not die…
• My relationship with God will not die. Instead, it shall flourish and not grow stale.
• My love for the word shall not die, but it shall blossom and bear fruit.
• My love for righteousness shall not die. I will not be moved by every thing society says is right. I will be moved by the Word of God.
• My desire to serve God shall not die. I will not allow discouragement, disagreements, and negativity to keep me from using what God has given me to glorify Him.
• My hope in the Savior will not die. No matter what circumstances come to me, I will place my hope in Jesus. All other ground is sinking sand.
• My faith, though it waver shall not die. Though sometimes I may question how my situation will work for my good, or how things will come together for me, my faith will not die. Though it sometimes be as small as a mustard seed, I will nurture it until it grows into a tree.
• Though the storms in my life seem to come back to back, I shall not die. I will look to Jesus to hold my hand, calm the storm and bring me safely over.
• Though some have left my side, I shall not die. Each departure has deposited something in my soul. I will learn from it and allow God to turn it into a testimony.
• Though my relationships are not perfect, they shall not die. Pride, fear, insecurities, selfishness have no place in my relationships.
But I will live and proclaim what the Lord has done.
• I am alive. God is alive in me and through me and because of that I will live.
• I will live to discover and walk out my God-given purpose.
• I will live because generational curses will be broken and will no longer paralyze me.
• I will live because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
• I will live unselfishly and be a blessing to others.
• I will live joyfully because I will not harbor envy, bitterness, malice or anything that causes my soul to die.
• My relationships with those that God has placed in my life will live. They will grow stronger and deeper.
• I will live to tell others about the goodness of God.
• I will live because Jesus has given me the authority to live abundantly. I will live in abundant joy, abundant peace, abundant love, abundant giving, and abundant truth.
Thank you Lord for the power to speak into my own situation through your Word. I will no longer wait for others to deposit into my spirit. I am not helpless! You are my Help. I will turn to your word and meditate on those promises until my spirit is strengthened.
