In this 3 Part Series we discuss 3 ways to live our days to the fullest. In order to maximize our time here on the Earth,
- We can maximize our interactions with people
- We can diligently pursue and live out God’s purpose for our lives
- We can truly live passionately for God
The standing joke in my home is that when I get hungry, I am a different person. My mood is altered and my primary focus is getting my hunger satiated. In those moments, I will do what it takes to get to my food. I mean, it’s almost scary who I become without my food.
You see, I’m passionate about feeding my stomach. Maybe you are not so passionate about food. Maybe for you, it’s your spouse or significant other, your desire to make money, your friends, looking good, protecting an image, your hobby, etc. I’ve noticed though my cup overflows with passion for other things, sometimes when it comes to feeding my spirit or things concerning my walk with God, I am not as zealous.
But what good is it to have a full stomach and an empty spirit? What good is it to be the life of the party but lack the Breath of Life flowing through every part of my life? Matthew 4:4 says ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’
Even as I refocus my passion, I realize that my passion doesn’t simply increase on its own. It’s something I have to depend on God to increase. If left to my own desires, I will chase everything else.
So today I say, God, set a fire in my heart for you. Fill me with hunger for Your Word, a desire to communicate with you and a passion for for time spent in your presence.
Lord, let me desires and passions be rooted in You first. Teach me to live a life that chases after You as if my life depended on it, because my life does depend on it.
