In the last post I shared the books that I read in 2016 and shared some of my key takeaways. Read that post here. In this post, I’m sharing 7 books I will dive into this year. I hope that you will find something on the list that peaks your interest. If so, let me know so we can share our thoughts as we read!
Warning: I typically read / listen to multiple books at a time. This does not including any books that the Broken For Building Book Club might get into.
- Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst – I started this book late summer and put it down. I will definitely try to finish this soon! This is a book that delves into rejection and living a life of love despite feeling left out and lonely. I’m currently about halfway through the book. The book touches a bit on the various sources of our rejection and how we can choose to walk in love despite those feelings.
2. Make It Happen by Lara Casey – I am probably most excited to read this book! It’s been on my radar for almost a year. I finally got it and read a few pages and I think I’m going to really get a great deal from it.
3. How To Be Here by Rob Bell – This is a book about being present in your life and discovering the meaning, joy and purpose in our everyday lives. One of my goals this year is to live intentionally and to enjoy the small moments of life.
4. The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles by Steven Pressfield – I cracked open this book and so far, it’s a gem! The book is about how to win the battle of creativity and push through the things that stop you from being creative.
5. The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkerson – This is such a quick and phenomenal read. I read it years ago and took someone’s suggestion to read it again. I should be done this week and I am glad I did. I probably should read it frequently because it is a great reminder to continue to ask God for his blessings, his favor and his covering as we strive to do awesome things for God.
6. The Miracle Morning: The Not so Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform your life (Before 8am) by Hal Elrod – A while ago, I decided the mornings were a great time for me to get some things accomplished because once my family is up and moving, it can be difficult to get some down time. This book focuses on strategies to help establish a morning routine (before 8am). I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book and I am eager to incorporate the strategies into my day.
7. Secrets of Dynamic Communication by Ken Davis – This book is about how to develop your speaking skills and deliver impactful presentations. I could definitely use some tips on how to strengthen my public speaking / delivery skills this year.
What are you reading this year?
Do you have any other recommendations I can add to my reading list?
